Requirements

  • Car Driver’s License: The driver must hold a valid European or an International Driver’s License (IDL) driver’s license issued for at least a year. An IDL is mandatory for all non-EU drivers renting a vehicle in Greece.
  • Scooter/Motorcycle Driver’s License: The driver must hold a valid European or an International Driver’s License (IDL) driver’s license (Category A, A1, or A2) issued for at least a year. Renters must be at least 21 years of age and have prior experience operating the type of vehicle being rented.
  • Buggy/Quad/ATV Driver’s License: The driver must hold a valid European or an International Driver’s License (IDL) driver’s license issued for at least a year. A valid category B (car) driving license is required to legally drive these vehicles. Renters must be at least 23 years of age and have prior experience operating the type of vehicle being rented. Individuals holding an A, A1, or A2 motorcycle license cannot operate a Buggy or Quad or ATV.
  • Liability: The hirer is responsible for any damage caused to the vehicle during the rental period.
  • Fuel Policy: All vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup. Additional charges may apply during drop-off if the fuel level is lower than at pick-up.
  • Credit Card Requirement: A credit card is required for vehicle rental as a warranty. If the credit card is under a different name than the driver, this must be noted and included in the rental agreement as an additional driver. The deposit amount will be temporarily blocked as a warranty during pickup and release after the drop-off, when extra charges won't apply; the amount depends on the insurance type corresponding to the excess/deductible amount.
  • Debit or Cash Card: If the hirer does not have a credit card, a Debit or Cash card is acceptable only if the amount requested is available for charging and if additional insurance is purchased. The damage deposit will be the excess/deductible amount of the insurance purchased. The damage deposit will then be charged upon arrival in full and will be refunded in the same manner when the vehicle is dropped off in the same condition.
  • Cash Deposit Option: If the hirer does not have a credit card, a cash deposit option is available only if additional insurance is purchased. The cash deposit will be the excess/deductible amount. Also, it must be paid at the time of vehicle pickup and will be refunded in the same manner when the vehicle is dropped off in the same condition.
  • Required Documents: To rent a vehicle, the hirer must present a valid driver’s license, an official form of identification (passport or national ID), and a credit/debit/cash card or cash for the deposit.

Age Requirements

  • The minimum age requirement to rent a car is typically 20 years old, with a valid driver's license held for at least one year. However, drivers under 23 years old are subject to a Young Driver surcharge.
  • For senior drivers, the maximum age limit for renting is 80 years old. Drivers over 70 years old are subject to a Senior Driver surcharge.

Cancellation Policy

  • In case of cancellation (for any reason) up to 10 days before arrival, the deposit of (30%) is refundable. (up to 20 days for July & August)
  • In case of cancellation (for any reason) within 10 days before arrival, the deposit (30%) is NOT refundable. (within 20 days for July & August)
  • If the hirer does not meet any rental requirements (diploma, age, credit card) Polos Rent A Car & Rental Agency is not liable. It may cancel the reservation without refunding the deposit.
  • Polos Rent A Car & Rental Agency is not liable for any cancellations/delays of any vessel/aircraft. The hirer must inform the company of any modification/change of arrival in advance in any such case.
  • In the event of force majeure circumstances, such as extreme weather conditions or strikes, we will issue a refund of your deposit using the same payment method. Please note that any transaction fees incurred will be the responsibility of the customer. For other unforeseen force majeure events not specifically listed, our customer service team will assess each case individually and may offer compensation in the form of a future discount or coupon.
  • All reservations booked under special offers, require full prepayment and are strictly non-refundable.
  • Refunds are typically processed within 10-15 working days. Please note that transaction fees incurred during the refund process will be borne by the customer.

Car Rental ProcedurePick Up & Drop Off

1. We need to have and receive all the necessary details before the Pick Up:

      • Arrival details.
      • Departure details.
      • Must be paid the advance of 30% from the total amount.
      • Any extra services if needed.
      • Driving license

      2. On the date and place of the Pick Up:

        • Depending on the location, one of our agents will welcome you as agreed.
        • We will prepare any paperwork needed.
        • We will finalise the balance, if any.
        • We will ask if you have any changes to your schedule.
        • We will show you the car, and we will explain anything you need on that. Also, we will mention any non-functional damages from other rentals on the agreement.
        • We will give some tips regarding Paros and directions for your destination.

        3. On the date and place of the Drop Off

          • Depending on the location, one of our agents will meet you as agreed.
          • Our agent will ask if you faced any vehicle problems and then evaluate the condition for any damages.
          • You will receive your payment receipt/invoice and your damage deposit.
          • After your trip, we will be glad if you spend some time evaluating our services and sending feedback to help us improve our services.

          Damage Calculation System

          • Any unwanted damage/accident caused during your rental will be evaluated and assessed by the SilverDAT damage calculation system. It is a certified system offered by DATgroup, worldwide and recognised by insurance companies and credit institutions.

          Insurance Τypes & extra costs

          Third-party insurance (THD)

          This insurance, included in all rental prices, protects individuals or firms against losses caused by third parties, as Greek law requires. The insured (first party) purchases the policy from the insurance provider/company (second party) to cover claims made by third parties in the event of an incident. The hirer or driver is responsible only for damages to the rental vehicle, while the insurance covers third-party claims, regardless of the cause.

          Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

          A collision damage waiver (CDW) is an additional insurance coverage offered (with extra cost) to an individual renting an automobile. It is optional (upgrade from the third-party), with the price of the waiver dependent on a variety of factors, like the type of rental vehicle and where it’s used, etc. The waiver typically covers the car’s bodywork with an excess of the liable to the hirer amount. However, CDW does not cover damage to tires, windshields, windows, the vehicle’s underside, or any non-physical damages resulting from improper use and extras, such as GPS, child seats or ski racks, towing charges, and extra cleaning costs if needed.

          • (CDW) has an additional daily cost of 11 euro and a 992 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S1-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 16 euro and a 496 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S2-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 21 euro and a 186 euro excess/deductible amount.

          Car Rental Category (A1.a, A3.c, A3.c.a, A4.c, A5.c.a., B2.a, C1)

          • (CDW) has an additional daily cost of 12 euro and a 1.240 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S1-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 17 euro and a 496 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S2-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 22 euro and a 186 euro excess/deductible amount.

          Car Rental Category (D1, D1.a, D2, D2.a)

          • (CDW) has an additional daily cost of 13 euro and a 1.488 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S1-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 18 euro and a 496 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S2-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 23 euro and a 186 euro excess/deductible amount.

          Car Rental Category (SUV1.a, SUV2, SUV2.a, eSUV2.a, SUV3, VAN1)

          • (CDW) has an additional daily cost of 14 euro and a 1.612 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S1-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 19 euro and a 496 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S2-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 29 euro and a 210 euro excess/deductible amount.

          Car Rental Category (J1.a, SL1.a)

          • (CDW) has an additional daily cost of 16 euro and a 1.798 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S1-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 20 euro and a 496 euro excess/deductible amount.
          • (S2-CDW) has an additional daily cost of 31 euro and a 210 euro excess/deductible amount.

          Car Rental Delivery Spots and Main Office

          The delivery locations are well spread across the island and offer flexibility and easy access to our services. Each location has a different timetable depending on its needs. All our pick-up and drop-off locations are meet & greet, meaning one of our team members will meet you at your preferred location and assist you with the car. The only exception is our office, open daily from 09:00 to 20:00.
